Head of System Sales – Europe

In my role as Head of System Sales (Europe) at Hawthorn Photonics, I lead commercial activities across the region, applying my expertise in tunable laser systems and laser spectroscopy to position advanced photonics solutions in the market, drive business growth and deliver high-value, application-driven outcomes for customers.

Main Areas of Expertise

My expertise lies in laser-based spectroscopy, particularly infrared (IR) and ultrafast techniques, and in the development and application of photonic systems for scientific and industrial use. I hold a PhD in Chemistry and built my academic career around advanced spectroscopic methods, including time-resolved and multidimensional techniques, during my doctoral work and subsequent postdoctoral research at leading international institutes.

I specialize in translating complex optical technologies, such as tunable lasers (OPOs), frequency conversion modules, and ultrafast laser systems, into user-oriented solutions. By combining a strong foundation in experimental photonics and laser system integration with commercial insight, I bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world customer applications, enabling scalable solutions across both scientific and industrial markets.

I hold a PhD in Chemistry from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (Argentina), with a specialization in molecular spectroscopy. I completed a postdoctoral research position as a Alexander von Humboldt fellow at the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society in Berlin (Germany), where I worked extensively with advanced spectroscopic techniques, including time-resolved spectroscopy, 2D-IR, UV/IR photofragmentation, as well as continuous and high power pulsed laser systems.

Throughout my academic career, I also held teaching positions and mentored students, while leading experimental projects involving complex laser setups and data acquisition systems.

Following my academic work, I transitioned into the photonics industry, taking on a commercial and technical role at Radiantis as an Application and Technical Sales specialist. Currently, I serve as Head of System Sales (Europe) at Hawthorn Photonics, where I operate at the intersection of technology and business. In this role, I leverage my deep expertise in laser systems, spectroscopy, and experimental photonics to understand customer challenges, define application-driven solutions, and effectively position advanced photonics technologies in the market.

My background enables me to engage with both technical stakeholders and decision-makers, translating complex system capabilities into clear value propositions. This combination of hands-on scientific experience and commercial insight allows me to support customers throughout the full process, from identifying the right technical approach to ensuring successful implementation, while driving growth, strengthening partnerships, and expanding market presence across Europe.

Hobbies & Interests

Outside of work I enjoy traveling and discovering new places, it’s something that really keeps me motivated. I also like playing music (guitar, piano, singing), staying active with running, and spending time outdoors.

As an Argentinian I also really value the simple things, like getting together with friends, making an asado (barbecue), sharing a good mate (national drink), and just enjoying the moment. Recently, I also became a father to a 7‑month‑old son, which has been one of the most beautiful (and demanding!) experiences of my life. I’m really looking forward to traveling and exploring the world with him and my partner in the years to come.

2021, awarded the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship, for postdoctoral research (2020–2023) at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (Argentina) focusing on infrared action spectroscopy of molecular ions in helium nanodroplets.
