Introduction

Covesion is a rapidly growing Advanced Manufacturing company at the forefront of Quantum
Technology which has been trading since 2009. We have established an international reputation for
our solutions across multiple markets, partnering with some of the biggest names in Science and
Technology. Our team has many years’ experience in the manufacture of Periodically Poled Lithium
Niobate (PPLN) frequency conversion solutions selling to both R&D, and OEM customers. We have a
range of stock items that can be delivered at short notice, or we can design custom solutions for our
demanding customer base. In the last 5 years we have undergone a transformation growing over 650%.


Location: Unit F3, Adanac North, Adanac Drive, Nursling SO16 0BT, UK.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week flexible between 07:00-18:00 Mon to Thurs, 07:00-14:30 Fridays.
Salary: Circa £35,000.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will join Covesion’s Delivery Team and report to the Head of Operations. This
role will be responsible for leading the planning activities in the Delivery Team, with the objective to
ensure project and sales deadlines are achieved efficiently, on time and to budget. The scope of the
role runs from planning, coordinating and allocating production tasks, managing the supply chain,
managing production documentation, through to stock control and identifying ways to improve cost
efficiencies. The role holder should have attention to detail, demonstrate initiative and enjoy working
in a structured but adaptable manner. Some general administration will be required as part of the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Operations and other Department Managers across the
    business.
  • Plan and implement production schedules covering weekly and monthly time scales to ensure
    project and customer demands are met.
  • Raise, issue and maintain works orders for production and project activities.
  • Analyse and forecast material requirements.
  • Manage supply chain relationships, planning and negotiating delivery schedules to meet
    forecast requirements and ensure the best costs are achieved.
  • Ordering and purchasing of materials and components.
  • Organise the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment.
  • Manage stock and aged inventory levels.
  • Identify and implement improvements to processes.
  • Assist the Head of Operations in delivering Continuous Improvement activities throughout the
    business.
  • Ensure the Company policies including Health & Safety are adhered to at all times.
  • Promote and demonstrate the Covesion values.

Knowledge, skills & experience:

Essential

  • Proven ability to plan and implement production schedules.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to get on with
    stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with a proactive and methodical approach to solving problems.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong supply chain relationships.
  • Can prioritize tasks and work effectively under pressure.
  • Computer literate: Excel, Word and other Microsoft packages.
  • Clear communication of complex problems.
  • Flexible approach to work.
  • Reliable and trustworthy.
  • Clean driving licence and own transport.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Lean Production methodologies and their implementation.
  • Experience of using CIM50 or similar MRP systems.
  • Experience of working within a high technology manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of wafer-scale batch clean room fabrication tools and techniques.
  • Experience of assembly and optical testing of photonics products.
  • Knowledge of optical waveguides, non-linear optics, PPLN and its characteristics, optical AR
    coating technologies.
  • Experience of R&D environments.
  • Exposure to small multidisciplinary team environments.
